Sizzling Competition Highlights The Ridge’s Summer Spectacular I & II

Asbury, New Jersey (August 8, 2016) – With the summer horse show season booming on the US east coast, The Ridge at Riverview’s August competition schedule is heating up, bringing qualifying classes, excellent prize money, and a diverse selection of divisions to its headline shows, the Summer Spectacular I & II. Owned and operated by Olympian Nona Garson, The Ridge’s elite hunter jumper facility hosts a variety of schooling and rated shows each month, drawing everything from adult amateurs and young riders to top hunter competitors and Grand Prix riders.

The Summer Spectacular I kicks off the spectacular series, running August 10-14, 2016. Its highlights include USEF “A”- Rated Hunter/Equitation, a $10,000 Grand Prix, and $2500 USHJA National Hunter Derby. On Wednesday, August 17, The Ridge will host a USEF “C”-Rated Hunter/Equitation event, The Ridge at Riverview Equitation, followed by the continuation of the summer series with the Summer Spectacular II, August 18-21. Competitors at the second Spectacular may chose from USEF “C”-Rated Hunter/Equitation, a $2500 Grand Prix, and 2’, 2’6”, and 3’ Hunter Derbies on the Grand Prix field. All of The Ridge’s Summer Spectacular shows feature qualifying classes for Medal/MacClay, the USEF Talent Search, THIS, ARIAT, the North Americal League (NAL), The Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), YJC, Take 2 Thoroughbred divisions, NJPHA, NJHSA and the Marshall Sterling League.
“Our focus for our competitors is convenience, atmosphere, and competition,” said Garson. “We’ve made every attempt to put the competitor first: actively working to reduce scheduling confliction with other shows, offering the best in footing, jump material, and course designs, and putting it all together at an elite, private facility, all with the goal of maximizing opportunities for our riders.”

Following its summer circuit, the Ridge also hosts the Asbury Classic series, held October 13-16 and October 20-23 against a backdrop of the autumn colors of the New Jersey forest. Both Classics are bookended by schooling shows, held September 18 and October 30, a major draw for riders of all ages and levels of expertise.
