Asbury, NJ (August 16, 2017) – The first of The Ridge at Riverview’s Summer Spectacular weeks wrapped up this Sunday, with the diverse circuit welcoming an eager crowd of professional and amateur riders to its three main rings. Featuring “A” Rated and qualifying classes including the Futures Grand Prix, USEF National Hunter Derby, the Riverview Welcome Stake, full hunter and jumper classes, and a newly introduced Ladies Hunter Side Saddle, Summer Spectacular I lived up to its name with exciting competition at Riverview’s world class show facility. Summer Spectacular II “B” Rated, which will run August 17-20, will feature a similar schedule including the jumper divisions, the Riverview Welcome Stake and the Futures Jumper Derby on the grass derby field, full hunter divisions including Junior, Adult, A/O, Take 2 Thoroughbred, and Pony Hunters to name a few, as well as qualifying classes for Marshall & Sterling, WIHS, and NAL. Full schedule and prizelist at!

The week’s headline class, the Futures Grand Prix, was captured by Anne Kursinski and Armando, while the Summer Spectacular I’s Riverview Welcome Stake was captured by Adam Cramer and Equi Sport LLC’s Ducati Z!

Summer Spectacular II will also host full jumper divisions Thursday through Sunday, with a special highlight being Friday, August 18th’s Low, Medium, and High Schooling Jumpers beginning at 10am and the Riverview Welcome Stake at 2pm, all held on the springy grass footing of The Ridge’s immaculate derby field. The turf classes continue on Sunday, August 20th, with the week’s headline Futures Jersey Jumper Derby!

Shameless and Amber Harte of Brass Ring Farm swooped in to steal away the Championship in Summer Spectacular I’s $2,500 National Hunter Derby, where the elegant grey topped a large field of competitors. Owned by Harte in partnership with her husband Tommy Harte, Claire Bethnogay, and Sally Mitchell, the 7-year-old Holsteiner stallion is fresh off victories in Upperville and Lake Placid, and clearly brought his winning style to The Ridge.

Harte credits his success to the decision to allow the horse to develop at his own pace, despite showing talent and poise as a 3-year-old. “After importing him and realizing he was only three, we decided to take him to the shows but just for the experience. We didn’t start jumping him again until he was four,” she stated. “The Ridge’s shows have tied into this training philosophy, allowing us to miles on young and developing horses and riders without the pressure or commitment of some of the larger circuits. I’ve always held Nona in very high regard and have used her shows to build towards even bigger victories.”

The Ridge at Riverview’s elite training and show facility features four arenas: a 340 x 200ft Grand Prix arena, 500 x 250ft Grand Prix field, 280 x 90ft Hunter Ring, and 300 x 150ft Asbury Ring. All feature an exceptional blend of sand and fine mixed all weather footing. The Ridge at Riverview’s schooling arenas supplement the competition arenas with an additional 240 x 100 feet of outdoor schooling and 180 x 80 feet of indoor schooling. By bringing together all of the elements of world class hunter jumper competition and combining them with the comforts of schooling at home, The Ridge creates a unique, welcoming, and relaxed atmosphere for competitors to enjoy the gorgeous New Jersey summer.
