Asbury, New Jersey (October 8, 2016) – Fall is in the air, and for The Ridge at Riverview that means they are gearing up for the biggest two shows of their circuit: the Asbury Classics. Following a busy summer show season, The Ridge at Riverview welcomes back its loyal base of riders for a variety of divisions and a show experience that is second to none. The Asbury Classic I & II run from October 13-16 and October 20-23, and offer The Ridge’s trademark combination of a laid back, fun atmosphere with a top tier show experience. While competition is always first on the roster at The Ridge, The Asbury Classic combines the shades of fall with shades of fun and philanthropy, hosting their Gambler’s Choice Class and Annual Charity Costume Pairs Relay, both to benefit Riding with Heart, Hunterdon Equine Assisted Therapy. The exciting and entertaining Costume Jumper Classes run each Saturday afternoon in tandem with their weekly Exhibitor Party, and also benefit Riding with Heart. In addition to the fun and lower level classes, the Ridge will host multiple Grand Prix classes, a Jumper Derby, Hunter Derby at three heights, and a range of competitors from professionals to amateurs. Points will be awarded for Marshall Sterling, NJPHA, NJHSA, and the Ridge series, which will continue this season in Florida with unprecedented new offerings. |

“The Asbury Classics are easily our highest attended shows,” said US Olympian Nona Garson, who owns and operates The Ridge Farm out of Florida and New Jersey. “With the backdrop of the autumn New Jersey woods and the added costume classes, it creates a fantastic atmosphere for riders of all experience levels, something we have been trying to cater to since the inception of our Ridge Series. Its extremely important for green or inexperienced riders and horses to build confidence in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, as well as being more enjoyable for seasoned competitors.” As a compliment to its northern shows, The Ridge also hosts 13-weeks of competition in Wellington, Florida, a week longer than the famous Winter Equestrian Festival. Featuring weekly Grand Prix classes, 1.30M divisions, Young Horse divisions, Junior/Adult Amateur, Children’s and Adult classes, and full divisions for all levels of hunter, jumper, and equitation riders, the Palm Beach Series will also boast a professional level facility including an oversized covered arena, multiple all weather, lighted arenas, permanent stabling, and RV/camper hook ups to keep competitors close to their horses. Only minutes from the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center grounds, the relaxed atmosphere at The Ridge includes complimentary breakfast and lunch, open in-gate showing, and custom course designs, yet never fails to pull major competition. Past years on The Ridge at Wellington’s series have seen the likes of McLain Ward, Ben Maher, Beth Underhill, and Conor Swail grace the competition arenas, as well as top hunter riders for their Hunter Derby Days, a bi-seasonal celebration of the performance hunter with major National and International Hunter Derbies. |
