The Ridge at Riverview Kicks Off Diverse Spring and Summer Circuits with Level I Jumpers May 15

Asbury, New Jersey (May 3, 2016) – With the spring competition circuits just beginning to bloom on the eastern seaboard, The Ridge at Riverview is joining the northern horse show boom with series of rated and schooling hunter, jumper, and equitation shows that will run through October. Organized by US Olympian Nona Garson, all of the series’ shows are held at her picturesque training facility in the heart of New Jersey, and appeal to all levels of rider from advanced jumpers to amateurs and Grand Prix to crossrails.

Nona Garson and Rythmical compete for the USA

Garson also hosts a series of educational clinics during the spring and fall, with the first being a one-day clinic on May 14, 2016, on the Ridge at Riverview grounds and over the courses for the show. The clinic’s focus will be “Show Ring Strategy,” and sessions will alternate between the hunter and jumper arenas. Participants may select the heights and divisions they are planning to show, and riders of all levels of experience and background are welcome to capitalize on the wealth of training and show experience Garson has gained over the course of her career. With a curriculum vitae that includes the 1998 World Championships and 2000 Olympics, her world-class knowledge of international horse sport is accented by an alacrity and enthusiasm that carries over to her teaching and to the show circuits she operates, creating positive experiences for both horses and riders. The clinic series continues in November with a two-day clinic the 14 and 15, featuring various heights from below 2’6” to over 3’9”. Lease horses are available as are on-site stalls for the weekend and auditors are welcome.

The 2016 debut event for The Ridge at Riverview will be the USEF “C” Rated Level I Jumper showcase, held May 15, 2016. The Sunday circuit will continueJuly 19, 2016, and both include a diverse offering of classes:

Teeny Tiny Jumpers (fences under 2’)

Itty Bitty Jumpers (fences 2’-2’3”)

Low Jumpers (NJHSA, fences 2’6”-2’9”)

Level I Schooling Jumpers (NJSHA, fences 3’)

Take Two Thoroughbred Jumper (NJHSA, fences 1-1.05M)

Low Children’s/Adult Jumper (fences 3’)

Children’s Jumper (NJHSA, fences 3’-3’6”)

$1,000 M&S/NAL/WIHS Children’s Jumper Classic

Adult Jumper (NJHSA, fences 1.05M/3’5”)

$1,000 M&S/NAL/WIHS Adult Jumper Classic

Level 3 Jumper (fences 3’6”)

Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper

Open Jumper

In addition, warm up classes will be offered to all entered riders for just $30 per round.

For the Hunter and Equitation riders, the wide range of classes offered includes Mini Stirrup, Short Stirrup, Leadline, Beginner Equitation, Beginner Hunter, Hopeful Hunter, Low Adult Amateur, Pre-Children’s Equitation and Hunter for both Pony and Horse, M&S Children’s Hunter Pony and Horse Classic, Adult Amateur Hunter, M&S/NAL/WIHS Adult Hunter Classic, M&S Bit O’ Straw Hunter Classic, Schooling Hunter, Suitable Hunter, Junior Hunter, $500 Junior Hunter Classic, and Take Two Thoroughbred Hunter, in addition to a variety of Equitation and National Equitation classes.

The show’s equitation offerings will be headlined by the large equitation division and a 2 USEF Talent Search class. The Talent Search program hones riders to the principle that form follows function by focusing on equitation basics and a solid jumper seat position as a pipeline to effective riding. The Talent Search class will test a rider’s ability to navigate a jumper course while maintaining the classic American forward style, and plays an important role in developing the next generation of international jumper riders.

Both Sunday competitions, held May 15 and July 19, will take place in The Ridge at Riverview’s elite show jumping arenas, including a 340 x 200ft Grand Prix arena, 280 x 90ft Hunter Annex, and 300 x 150ft Asbury Ring, all of which feature an exceptional blend of sand and fine mixed all weather footing. The Ridge at Riverview’s schooling arenas supplement the competition arenas with an additional 240 x 100 feet of outdoor schooling and 180 x 80 feet of indoor schooling. By bringing together all of the elements of world class hunter jumper competition and combining them with the comforts of schooling at home, The Ridge creates a unique, welcoming, and relaxed atmosphere for competitors to enjoy the gorgeous New Jersey summer.

This serene competition atmosphere extends into the fall, following June, July, and August’s USEF “A” and “C” rated shows, as well as locally recognized and schooling shows, keeping the summer heat both literal and figurative with sizzling hunter, jumper and equitation competition.

July 19 continues the USEF “C” rated hunter, jumper, and equitation shows, entitled Tuesday in the Summer. The USEF “A” rated event will be the Summer Spectacular I, held August 10-14, followed by the USEF “C” rated Ridge at Riverview show August 17 and the USEF “C” rated Summer Spectacular IIAugust 18-21, 2016.

The fall circuit is headlined by the Asbury Classics, held October 13-16 andOctober 20-23 against the autumn colors of the New Jersey forest. Both classics are bookended by schooling shows, held September 18 and October 30, a major draw for riders of all ages and levels of expertise.
